I think that Language Arts is more about the things used to actually write the books, like general English and punctuation and knowing grammar; the Reading class is more about books and different types of genres and how to interpret what was written. I’m not 100% sure, but hopefully I helped a little bit. :)

Language. English is a required course, Reading is if you can’t take a language because of low grades.

Well at my old middle school everyone took language arts and then students who weren’t as smart I guess u could say didn’t take a foreign language instead they took reading which was like a speech class. And it was like instead of learning stuff for let’s say grade 8 they learned stuff for grades 6 or 7.
